Department of Education launches portal to "End DEI"
We look forward to seeing if the “White Anti-Racist Affinity Group” at New Trier qualifies for a federal look
Yesterday, the US Department of Education launched a portal where citizens can “submit reports of discrimination based on race or sex in publicly-funded K-12 schools.”
The portal will collect information, including the school and description of the practices, which then will be reviewed to see if a federal level investigation is warranted.
We look forward to seeing if the “White Anti-Racist Affinity Group” at New Trier qualifies for a federal look. Affinity groups were introduced in 2023 at New Trier through a webinar for parents titled "DigNiTy." In the presentation, New Trier administrators and teachers defined affinity groups using material from Learning for Justice – a project of the highly politicized and now discredited Southern Poverty Law Center.
The ideologically titled “White Anti-Racist Affinity Group” “provides white students with the option to deepen their personal understanding of what it means to be a white ally when it comes to anti-racist work” implying that white kids must assume the mantle of “ally” to make up for past sins of their race. No other affinity group features “anti-racist” in its title.
In the “DigNiTy” webinar Q&A, Chimille Tillery, recently promoted to be New Trier’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction, also noted there would be no Christian affinity group because Christianity is a “dominant” religion and affinity groups are for “marginalized” people.
It is fitting that the Department of Education portal was announced around the eight-year anniversary of the controversial Seminar Day, which led to the founding of New Trier Neighbors. Read more here from Wirepoints on how New Trier led the way into “woke” and could lead the way out.
