Though we knew conservative students at New Trier are in the minority, even we were shocked to hear Trevian Club America posters were vandalized as they launched their group last fall. Trevian Club America is part of Turning Point USA’s high school outreach effort.
“We hope that the power of discussion can be revived through the willingness to hear what we have to say even though some may not agree with it.”
That’s the goal stated by student leaders of Trevian Club America. And it is truly needed. This recent study of Northwestern and University of Michigan students found an astounding 88 percent said they adapt to more progressive views than they truly endorse to succeed socially or academically.
