Local Angel Dad Joe Abraham Testifies in Congress on Dangers of Sanctuary Laws

Joe Abraham has been a tireless advocate for spotlighting the deathly consequences of Illinois sanctuary laws after his daughter Katie was killed last year by an illegal immigrant who drove drunk and rammed her car at 80 miles an hour. Joe has penned multiple op eds – here’s his most recent – and gave powerful testimony at a Senate Judiciary Subcommittee hearing this past Wednesday.
Joe also started an X account, with his post taking aim at Governor Pritzker for his “compassion” for Minneapolis protestors while Pritzker still remains silent on Katie Abraham’s preventable death. The post went viral at 2.8 million views and counting.
New Trier Neighbors spoke with Joe last month about a letter Joe sent to Governor Pritzker asking simple, reasonable questions about failures of Illinois’s sanctuary policies that continue to put ordinary citizens at risk.
Still no answer for Joe from Governor Pritzker.
Tragically, just last week, Loyola student Sheridan Gorman was the latest victim of these reckless sanctuary policies as she was gunned down by an illegal immigrant - with a rap sheet - who entered the country under President Biden’s open border policies.

It is absolute madness to protect violent illegals from deportation. The DHS has said they have identified over 2,000 high value targets (meaning very dangerous, convicted criminal illegals) in Chicago. Why not hand those over to ICE? It is a total abdication of the governments duty to keep their citizens safe.
